EVS-II
Environmental Science: Theory into Practice-II is an undergraduate course designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of pressing environmental issues and the policies addressing them. The curriculum covers global environmental challenges such as climate change, global warming, ozone layer depletion, and acid rain, along with their impacts on human communities, biodiversity, and the global economy. Students explore international agreements like the Earth Summit, UNFCCC, and the Kyoto Protocols, and study India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change and environmental legislation. The course also delves into biodiversity, emphasizing India's rich biodiversity, the value of biodiversity, and conservation strategies. Additionally, it examines the relationship between human communities and the environment, discussing the impacts of population growth, environmental movements, and the role of environmental justice. Practical exercises and outreach activities are integral to the course, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge through data analysis, surveys, simulations, project proposals, and field visits, thus bridging the gap between theory and practice.
